The Rockfowl (or the Picathartes) of Africa are strange, elusive and wonderful birds. There are two species: the Gray-necked Rockfowl (or Red-headed Picathartes) Picathartes oreas in central Africa near the Gulf of Guinea, and the White-necked Rockfowl (or Yellow-headed Picathartes) P. gymnocephalus of west Africa.

Number of bird species: 2
