...About eight years ago a wild Australian Sulphur Crested Cockatoo flew into a car and broke its wing. The motorist took it to the Vet in Nerang, Queensland, who had to amputate the wing. We adopted her - for which we needed a National Parks and Wildlife permit - and kept her in a cage outside where she was often visited by wild Cockatoos. One of the things that impressed us was how she would push lettuce leaves through the bars of the cage, offering food to visitors...

Americans are going to have to wake up and become more vocal and dedicated at protecting our wild life than the feral cat enablers are at allowing cats to kill them. Cats are cute, yes, but a feral cat munching on a clutch of a threatened bird species is not. Trap, neuter, release programs produce a healthier, more efficient killing machine. All they are doing is enabling the cats in their destruction. TNR enthusiasts claim if you remove one cat another moves in. Okay, no problem, I remove that one, too. Euthanasia of the millions of feral cats now killing billions of native animals each year is the only effective answer.

Sam Woods, UK - I've been birding since I was 11, which was a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Since 2005 I have been living in Ecuador, for my job as a guide for Tropical Birding and Tandayapa Bird Lodge. This has taken me to many corners of the planet in my unwavering pursuit of birds. Birds and birding, that's what I'm all about, and what this site is all about. Nothing more, nothing less...

Morgithology – Geoff MorganWebsite
Birds, wildlife and ecology in Lothian and beyond - I have been birding for as long as I can remember - well, ever since I saw Reed Buntings and Tree Sparrows in the garden as a four year old. I am keen on gulls, waders, raptors and passerines, though when birding abroad all the colourful stuff comes in handy as well... I'm based in Edinburgh and bird mainly in Lothian and elsewhere in Scotland. My real home patch is in North Wales - the awesome and well-known nightjar site near Nercwys. Not a twitcher but I do like seeing new stuff so I'm hoping to self-find more in the future than I have in the past...

I am a lifelong Ohioan who has made a study of natural history since the age of eight or so - longer than I can remember! The more of us who care, the more likely that our natural world will survive.

The Lazy BirderWebsite
I am a South African birder living in the south of Pretoria in the province of Gauteng. The reason I thought of this name for my blog is that I really love birds and birding but the thought of getting in my car and driving off at 2 or even 4a.m. to get to a prime birding site by first light is enough to make me roll over and go back to sleep. This means that most weekends I end up birding in the garden or some local park that I can get to in 5 to 10 minutes, which is not always bad.......I mean I have had species like Southern Whitefaced Owl, Little Bittern and Ovambo Sparrowhawk right in my back yard. What I hope to achieve with this blog is to share some of the birds I have seen on my weekend and holiday trips with my friends and family.
